Hi, I'm Lynn and I'm passionate and committed to bringing about change. Change to thought processes and emotional responses we have as a result to experiencing a trauma, upset or ordeal.
I believe we all deserve the time and space to work through the many challenges life lays in our path. Many of these challenges are due to not our own life's choices but those of others and their behaviours and actions towards us. This over time can then take away our control to function, feel, live and grow. Helping individuals to take back that control can then enable them to find their own answers. My role is not to fix and I don't have all of the answers but I can share alternative ways of thinking that can enable change and allow people to actually live their life instead of just existing.
I have worked with and supported vulnerable client groups for the past 18yrs. These range from supporting teenage mothers with their self esteem and positive relationships, young people living in care, to those affected by domestic abuse, sexual abuse and rape. As different as they all were, what they did have in common was their positive responses to having someone to talk to, but more importantly, someone to listen. Many had built walls of protection and had convinced themselves they didn't need anyone. I learnt that the ability to gain trust resulted in their willingness to be open to opportunities for change and discover a new way of thinking. Being in this space with someone and by being able to help them to move forward, was what lead me to make the decision to train and practice as a therapist, a change specialist.
